Philosophy

In the beginning of therapy, it is essential to build a collaborative, working relationship within an atmosphere of trust, safety and non-judgmental acceptance.  In this context, we can work together to help you express yourself, build on your current insight, and develop new understandings of yourself and of the issues that limit you or cause you pain.

Over time, this insight can lead to new patterns in your relationship to yourself and to others.  Therapy will help you learn how to translate insight into real change in your daily life.

The therapeutic process must be personalized for each individual.  Therefore, you can expect the process itself to be a direct reflection of your personal needs, goals and interests.

Many people find that psychotherapy has enabled them to work through their problems in a lasting and deeply meaningful way.  I am often amazed by how much clients can accomplish.
